Joseph V. Hoar. 66, a Yonkers
resident until moving to
Jamesburg, . N.J., 20 years
ago, died Sunday at St. Peter's
Hospital in New Brunswick,
N.J., after a brief illness.
He was an engineer for Edison
Industries in Edison, N.J.,
and prior to World War II was
a member of the U.S. Maritime
service. During the war,
he was employed by the Army
Transport Service that carried
troops between Australia and
the Pacific Islands.
Mr. Hoar was born in Yonkers
on March 8, 1904, to Patrick
and Mary Boyle Hoar and
attended local schools. On
March 13, 1931, in South
Hampton, England, he married
the former Clara Leadbitter
who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is
survived by two sons, Patrick
of Pompton Plains, N.J., and
Joseph V. Jr. of Jamesburg;
three brothers, James A. and
Thomas A., both of Yonkers,
and Francis X. of Manhassett,
L.I.; a sister, Mrs. John H.
(Agnes) Bradley, also of
Yonkers, and four grandchildren.
A sister, Helen C. Hoar, died
on Oct. 21,1960.

Mrs. Mary E. Tansey, 77, of 22 Western Ave., died in St. John's Hospital this morning
after a long illness. Mrs. Tansey was born in Woodbridge, N. J. on May 18, 1894. She had lived in Yonkers for 50 years. She was educated here and was married to the late John H. Tansey in St. Bartholomew's Church in 1921. Mrs. Tansey was a member of St. Mary's Senior Citizens Club; the Western Avenue Golden Age Club; St. Peter's Third Order of Saint Francis Society; and she was a communicant of St. Denis Church. Survivors include three sisters. Mrs. Edward (Ann) O'Brien; Airs. John (Ellen) Maher; Mrs. George (Bessie) Mellor, all of Yonkers; a son Wilfred J. (Bill) Tansey of Bronxville; a brother, Thomas Hoar of Yonkers, and one grandson.

Mrs. Ellen Maher, 76. of Yonkers
died Monday at St. Joseph's
Hospital after a short
illness. Her late husband,
John S, Maher, was a former
city clerk and 6th Ward Councilman.
Mrs. Maher, who moved to
Yonkers as a girl, was a graduate
of Sacred Heart School, a
communicant of St,
Anthony's Church, a member
of the Golden Age Club and the Third
Order of. .St. Francis. Shoretired

homemaker for Catholic Char-
- ities.
Born in New Jersey Jan. 6,
1897, the lormer Ellen Hoar
was married to John S. Maher
in September 1917 at the Mona
s t e r Church of the Sacred
Heart.
Surviving are a son, Clifford
of Yonkers; a brother, Thomas
Hoar; two sisters, Mrs. George
(Bess) Mellor, Mrs.. Edward
(Anne) O'Brien; eight
grandchidren: and six greatgrandchildren.

She survives. He worked as a steamfitter and had been a charter member of Steamfitters and Helpers Local 543. He was a communicant of St. Denis Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son. Edward J. Jr. of Ocean Port. N.J.. and five grandchildren

Thomas G. Hoar, 73, of
Yonkers died Sunday at his
home.
Born Oct. 9, 1903 in Carteret,
N.J., he attended
Yonkers High School. He
was a sheet metal worker
for Creador Corp for 23
years, until reitring eight
years ago. Mr. Hoar was a
member of Local 38 Westchester
County Sheet Metal
Workers. He was a parishioner
of St. Denis Church.
On Sept. 24. 1936 he married
the former Elizabeth
Ryan, who died on April 18,
1963.
He was predeceased by
four sisters, Mrs. Catherine
Keefe, Mrs. Mary Tansey,
Mrs. Ellen Maher, and Mrs.
Marguerite Browne.
Surviving are two stepsons,
John W. Davis and
Robert D. Davis/ both of
Yonkers, and two sisters,

Francis X. Hoart, 71, a former Yonkers resident,
died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital in Manhasset, L.I.
Nfa-Hoart had been living on Long Island since 1967.
"Born Aug. 9, 1909 in Yonkers, he attended St.
Joseph's Elementary School and Gorton High School.
Mr; Hoart graduated from New York University and
was* awarded membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, an
honorary society for business graduates.
?WMr. Hoart held a seat on the New York Stock
Exchange since February,1951 and was a partner with
Thomas F. Fagan and Co. in Manhattan.

Margaret D. Hoar of Yonkers, a former substitute teacher in the Yonkers public school system, died Friday after a long illness. Born in Troy, N.Y., she was the daughter of
Michael and Anna Quinn Delapp. She lived most of her life in Yonkers where she attended schools. .' A graduate of the New York Teachers Training School, she also attended Columbia University. She taught school in Yonkers for many years and
was also employed as a social worker with the former Yonkers Department of Public Welfare. A communicant of St. Denis Church in Yonkers, she was a member of the Leisure Club at St. Margaret's Church in Riverdale, the Westchester Irish American Association and the Park Hill Residents Association. She served as a volunteer at St. John's Riverside Hospital and was a member of the Ladies of Charity of the Archdiocese of New York. In July 13, 1935, she was married to Thomas Hoar Sr. in St. Peter's Church in Yonkers. Her husband, a retired superintendent of Con Edison, died in 1972.
Surviving are a son, Thomas of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mary M. of Yonkers and Theresa Mikulka; of Virginia Beach, Va.; six sisters, Dorothy Sherman of Valatia, N.Y. Mary Hertzel. Kathleen Bashford an4 Norena Cunningham, all of Albany, N.Y., Rita Delapp of Delmar, N.Y.; and Eleanor McGowan of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A brother, Edward Delapp, died earlier.

Born and educated in Yonkers, she resided in Albany for over 45 years before moving to Texas in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church in Albany. She was retired from NYNEX and was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and an active volunteer. Mrs. Bashford was the widow of Joseph M. Bashford. She is survived by a son, Patrick M. Bashford of Bedford, TX and three sisters, Dorothy E. Sherman, Kinderhook, Rita V. Delapp, Delmar and Eleanor R. McGowan, Ocala, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother Edward M. Delapp and three sisters, Mary G. Hertzel, Margaret A. Hoar, and Norena B. Cunningham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, 1997 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy. John Horr, aged 63 years, died at 2:15 o'clock this morning of paralysis, at his home on Boardmen street. Mr. Horr was an exemplary citizen, a devoted husband and an indulgent father, and his death will be deeply deplored by a wide circle of acquaintances. He is survived by two daughter, Mrs. Eugene Warren of Carthage, N.Y., and Mrs. Leon Nicholas of this city, and four sons, John, William, Edward and James Horr, of this city. The funeral will be held at St. Mary's church Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery.

26619 Obituary: Frank H. Woodbury, 93. of 62 Elm St., formerly of Long Island, died yesterday in a local nursing home following a long illness.
He was born Dec. 23, 1871, on Long Island, son of James F. and Hannah Cushing Woodbury and lived in the Greater Portland area all his life. In his younger days he was a fisherman and later worked for 21 years in the Maintenance service at the United States Customs House.
He attended the Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of the Atlantic Lodge of Masons. He was a 50 year member of Trinity Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and the Coswego Tribe of Redmen and a member of the National Employees of Retired Civil Service.
His wife, the former Mary E. Horr, died in 1950. He leaves a daughter, Mrs Frances E. Farwell, with whom he had made his home, and a nephew, Alvin G. Doughty.
A private funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at 749 Congress St. Interment will be on Long Island.

Mathias Spieles Dies At Home In Locust Dale
Mathias Spieles, 55, died at his home in Locust Dale at three o'clock this morning. He had been bedfast for only a few days but was ailing for some months previous.
Born in Germany, Mr. Spieles came to America when a young man and for the past 35 years has been a resident of Locust Dale. He worked about the mines, chiefly at the Potts.
Surviving is the widow and the following children: Mathias Jr., at home; John, of Locust Dale; Mrs. John Madden, of Ashland; Mrs. Thomas Langdon and Mrs. Anna Hoar, of Girardville; Mrs. Thomas Kerrigan, of Locust Dale; Anna and Vincent at home. Twelve grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Angeline Adolph of Philadelphia also survive.
Funeral services under the direction of Kull Brothers will be made public later.
