Her late husband, John S, Maher, was a former city clerk and 6th Ward Councilman. Mrs. Maher, who moved to Yonkers as a girl, was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, a communicant of St, Anthony's Church, a member of the Golden Age Club and the Third Order of. .St. Francis. Shoretired eight years ago as a homemaker for Catholic Char- - ities. Born in New Jersey Jan. 6, 1897, the lormer Ellen Hoar was married to John S. Maher in September 1917 at the Mona s t e r Church of the Sacred Heart. Surviving are a son, Clifford of Yonkers; a brother, Thomas Hoar; two sisters, Mrs. George (Bess) Mellor, Mrs.. Edward (Anne) O'Brien; eight grandchidren: and six greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Maher was predeceased by a son, John W.: and three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Catherine) Kcefe, Mrs. John (Mary) Tanscy, Mrs. Joseph (Rita) Browne.
