This page is now focused on patriline descendants of Reuben Hord, b1814 circa on the Shady Grove plantation to a slave mother. Originally believing a John Hord descendant to be the father. But now being researched as likely due to some other male yet to be identified. This was the original founding purpose of the FamilyTreeDNA Hord project founder by Lynn Fisher-Hill back in the 2006 and since folded into this overall surname study project.
The original page here on the John Hord family line of Shady Grove, Essex County, Virginia has been moved.  Please follow the link to B06. The page was originally known as O01 John Hord but is now renamed to B29 and focused on Reuban Hord.

We have over 30 tested descendants of John Hord that are all tightly matching and different from the first tester in this group. This group is down haplogroup branch I1-FGC2491 (aka I1-Y1884). Whereas the John Hord group is down R1b. But the second tester will now shed new light onto this mystery.

Also, more research on the Plantation and who was possibly still on it in 1814 needs to be looked into. John Hord was gone for many years before this. Likely his great-grandson would need to be a father of Reuben based on birth years alone.
