Genealogy is the study of families and their linked lineages through history. It is also known as the study of family history and known for the creation of a family tree. This may include some heredity and how we pass on characteristics from a parent to a child, biologically. Below is the further glossary of terms used in this study project related to genealogy. A genealogist is someone who practices genealogy.
Surname studies are traditionally a study of the branch in a family. But of late, they are as much about the use of genetics in that study due to the matching of genetic testing with that branch study. Hence the introduction of genetic genealogy as a study form practiced here.
