Notes - "The Will of Ellis Cook," edited by Albert Stanburrough Cook, privately printed in New Haven in 1916, contains the following information:
o Like her brothers, John and Thomas, Martha Cooper Cooke was perhaps of a litigious disposition. She had disputes about land with the towne of Southampton in 1681, two years after her husband's death.
o There are various references to her in "Early History of Southampton, L. I.," by George Rogers Howell, New York 2d ed., Albany, 1887, and "The Second Book of Records of the Town of Southampton," Sag Harbor, N.Y., 1874.
