Death
WYMORE - Joe E. Windle, 76, Wymore, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville, Kan. He was born Aug. 7, 1926, at Beatrice and has been a Wymore resident his entire life. He was a 1944 graduate of Wymore High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from July 8, 1944, to April 12, 1946. He owned and operated Windle Motors in Wymore from 1957-1981, and later worked for Knoche Ford at Wymore and then at Spady-Runcie in Beatrice. He married Sally Brown on Aug. 17, 1946, at Wymore. She died Feb. 2, 1978. He married Marjorie Hoar Ubben on Nov. 21, 1978, at Reno, Nev. He was a member of the Wymore United Methodist Church, American Legion Anderson Post 25 at Wymore, the Wymore Country Club and was a former member of the Wymore Chamber of Commerce. His hobbies included golfing, boating, gardening, and especially his dog, Missy.
Survivors: daughter, Sally Jo Maca and husband Martin of Brookings, S. D.; a son, Dean Windle and wife Amy of Nebraska City; stepson, John Ubben and wife Judy of Montrose, Colo.; stepdaughter, Cynthia Jacobs and husband Jerry of Shore View, Minn.; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca and Jacob Maca; Joe Dean, Ellie, Lucy and Zoe Windle; stepgrandchildren, Marie and Holly Jacobs, and Justin and John Ubben; sisters, Doris Slye of Boise, Idaho, and Esther Arganbright of Lincoln; brothers-in-law, Richard Brow of Seattle, Wash.; Ramon "Bus" Brown and wife Margaret of Los Angeles, Calif., and Robert Brow of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Alice Hadley of Wymore and Bonnie Schwenke and husband Gene of Green Bay, Wis.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean K. and Ruth (Jones) Windle; his first wife, Sally (Feb. 2, 1978); his second wife, Marjorie (March 29, 2000).
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, Wymore United Methodist Church, 10th & F streets, the Rev. Judith Dye officiating. Burial: Wymore Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Anderson Post 25 of Wymore. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home until 9 p.m. Monday, and at the church one hour preceding the service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society with the funeral home in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, in charge of arrangements.
