WATHENA, Kan. - Geraldine Ruth (Hoffman) Berry, 85, was born on April 2, 1927, in Wathena.
She was raised on the family's farm near Blair, Kan., and graduated from the Blair Elementary School. She attended Troy High School for two years.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Hoffman of Blair.
She married J.Ralph Brazelton in 1943, and lived on a farm in the Mount Airy area, west of Wathena, and near the Camp Hood, Texas, area during WWII. The marriage ended in divorce.
She married Chester Doro in 1950 and lived east of Troy, Kan., on a small farm on US 36 for nearly 20 years. Chester preceded her in death in 1967.
She moved to St. Joseph in 1969, and worked as a professional cook and live-in housekeeper, until she retired in 1989.
She married Simon Berry in 1970, and they resided various locations in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death.
She then resided at East Towers Village Drive from 1989, until a few weeks before her death on October 13, 2012.
She is survived by two sons, John H. Brazelton of El Paso, Texas, and Roger Doro of St. Joseph; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robin McCartney and one step-granddaughter, Mrs. Rindy McCartney, both of St. Joseph; and one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter and one great-step-grandson.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2012, at Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy.
Visitation: family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena.
