      Ruth J. McMillen age 86, of Mount Vernon died Sunday July 11, 2004 at the Morning View Care Center in Centerburg. She was born April 18, 1918 in Mount Vernon to Grover and Myrtle (Hoar) Carter and had spent most of her lifetime in Knox County.

      She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon.

      Surviving are her two sons Ron (Cathy) McMillen of Mount Vernon and Ken (Polly) McMillen of Merritt Island, Florida; six grandchildren Ken (Rhonda) McMillen, David (Sheri) McMillen, Jacque (David) Smith, Linda McMillen, Gwen (George) Hartz, and Chris (Amanda) McMillen; eight great grandchildren Jon, Nicole, Britney, Brandon, Jacob, Amanda, Levi, and Caleb; and her sister Marie Maxwell Horn of Mount Vernon. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John McMillen in 1998 and her brother Harold Carter.

      Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio where funeral services will be Thursday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
