Frankfort, Feb. 18'97 James H. Hoard. 86. well known retired businessman, died at his home in West Main Street early this morning after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Frankfort. May 25. 1845. and was educated in a district school. As a young man he worked as clerk in the store of
Joslin St Sheldon for two years. Then for a year he was a traveling salesman for William Gates, match manufacturer. In 1S72 he went into the hardware business In Frankfort, and continued in this field until 1801, almost 30 years, and to this work he was eminently successful. Mr. Hoard was a director In the
First Natlonsl Bank up to the time of its merger and at one time was its vice president. In 1882 he built a large residence on West Main Street, which he has since occupied. In politics. Mr. Hoard was Republican, and since 1907 be had served on the board of town auditors. For several years he served as
school trustee. At one time he was chosen president of the village, but declined to serve.
He leaves his wife and a daughter. Mrs. J. Martin Weaver. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 from his home. Interment will be in the f amily plot in Oak View Cemetery.
