1925-2009
SPRINGFIELD, MA - Mary M.(Hoar)Walence 84, Of Springfield passed away Wednes-day, November 4,2009 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Springfield, May 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Martin J. and Catherine (Sheehan) Hoar and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Mary was a graduate of Cathedral High School. For many years, she worked for the City of Springfield in the Collector's Office. She also had worked with her late husband, Dr. Edmond J.Walence , M.D. in his medical practice. She was a longtime Communicant of St Patrick's Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the St. Patrick's women's club and member of the choir. Mary was a Member of the Cathedral Golden Panthers and Mercy Hospital Women's Auxiliary. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Catherine A. Walence in 2007. She is survived by her son, Stephen M. Walence of Hampden and 3 grandchildren, Nicholas and Daniel and Kayleigh all of Hampden. Visiting hours for Mary are Friday, November 6, 2009 from 4-7pm at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd. Springfield,MA. Her Funeral is Saturday, November 7, 2009 from Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home at 8am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am at St. Patrick's Church, 1900 Allen St. Springfield, MA. Rites of Committal and Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery 1601 State St. Springfield, MA. Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be sent to St. Patrick's Church, 1900 Allen St. Springfield , MA 01118
