business on his cousin's death in 1696. He moved the bank to Fleet St, London +
and made a large fortune, and purchased an estate at Staplehurst, Kent. He was +
Sheriff of London in 1713, and then Lord Mayor. He was M.P. for the City of +
London 1710 and 1713. He was knighted 29 Oct 1710. He died at his home at +
Hendon, Mddx and is buried at St Dunstan's Church, Fleet St. DNBX; provides a +
short biography.
