Capt.Edward Hoare's (H&H) + pedigree shows James HOARE of The Mint as the elder brother (in Devon) of + Edward Hoare of Togher Castle, Cork, Ireland who appears as his second cousin + in subsequent genealogies. James HOARE was Comptroller of the Mint, where he + was appointed Clerk of the Irons in Sept. 1642. Captain Edward HOARE (H&H) + states that he was the reputed founder of Hoare's Bank at the sign of the + Golden Bottle, and was banker to Oliver Cromwell.
