Obituary:
January 22, 1925 - September 22, 2004
Mary Jane Hoar of Rifle, "Nan," died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in Rifle. She was 79.
A memorial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Rocky Mountain Baptist Church west of Rifle. Pastor Jim Sheets will officiate. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery on a later date.
She was a Rifle resident for 30 years, and a motel manager.
She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Lancaster, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Riley) McCulley. She spent her childhood in Pennsylvania, and also lived in Las Vegas.
Her husband, Eugene Hoar, preceded her in death.
She was an Elkette for the Elks Club, loved to play bingo and shop at Wal-Mart. She played cards with her granddaughter Stephanie and visiting friends. She was known to most as "Nan," was a volunteer at the senior center in Rifle and had been a volunteer of the month at the senior center.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen Hoar and his wife, Chris, and Benjamin Hoar, all of Lancaster; daughters Daryl Fritsch and her husband, James, of Lancaster, Jacqueline Petree and her husband, Ray, of Rifle, and her "special daughter," Victoria Hoar of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, two sisters, a brother and two grandsons preceded her in death.
The Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles L. "Mick" McCulley, 73, of 1121 Fremont St., died Sunday morning at home after a one-year illness.
He was the husband of Verna E. Wissler McCulley. They celebrated their 53rd anniversary on Aug. 30.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Elizabeth Riley McCulley.
He worked 41 years as a supervisor for Armstrong World Industries before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Lancaster.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Carol J., wife of Paul Heine of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Sharon A., wife of Lloyd E. Ulmer of Millersville; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Mary, wife of Gene Hoar of Rifle, Colo., and Betty DeFranco of Orinda, Calif.
