Rita Marie (Duffy) Lavers Genova, age 95, passed away peacefully at Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center in Natick with her family by her side on Friday morning, November 21, 2014. She was the devoted wife of Joseph V. Genova; cherished mother of Janice, Charles, and Pamela Lavers, Stephen Genova and wife Fumi, and Cynthia (Genova) Hegarty and husband George; loving grandmother of Jessica, Jahna, and Geoffrey; and sister of the late Catherine Mitchell, Helen Hoar, Rose Landry, Margaret Eckstein, and John, Henry, and Joseph Duffy. Loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love her. Her funeral was from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Wednesday, Nov. 26th at 8:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial at Saint Patrick Cemetery. Deceased Name: Alice a. Duncan, 88
CROWNSVILLE,MD.? MRS. Alice A. Duncan, of Crownsville, Maryland, died peacefully on January 14, 2012 at Fairfield Nursing Home in Crownsville, Maryland. She was 88.
Prior to Fairfield, she resided with her daughter & son-inlaw, Kathleen & George Sherry of Crownsville. Alice also spent 4 wonderful years at Atria Manresa Assisted Living in Annapolis and 2 years in Eastport after moving to MD in 2004. Alice was a native New Englander and spent her golden years living on Cape Cod with her husband Joseph (Joe) Duncan. She was born Alice Ann Powers on February 2, 1923 in Haverhill MA the third of four daughters to Etta Owens Powers and William Powers of Bradford, MA.
In the late 1940's she worked at Western Electric where she met her future husband Joseph (Joe) Duncan of Scotland. They were married on January 14, 1950. Alice loved traveling, sewing, crafting and antiquing. She was a competitive bowler and belonged to several leagues in Haverhill and Cape Cod. She recently was named the queen of bingo & cards by her fellow players and friends. Marylanders often commented about her beautiful crystal blue eyes and her distinctive New England accent.
Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Duncan, her sisters Mary Donovan and Helen Hoar, her nieces Kathleen Hoar and Elaine Donovan Marsella and many in-laws in Scotland. Alice is survived by her daughter Kathleen Sherry and son-in-law George Sherry of Crownsville, MD; her son David Duncan of Portland, OR; her sister, Margaret (Billie) Dufresne of Saylorsburg, PA and many nieces and nephews in New England, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Scotland.
Much gratitude is given to the great and loving care she has received at Fairfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Crownsville, MD and the compassionate care from Heartland Hospice of MD. Special thanks to private nurse Shirley Russ for all her loving care of Alice over the years.

Saylorsburg, PA ? Margaret "Billie" E. Dufresne passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 25th at home.
She was the loving wife of Clement "Duff" P. Dufresne who passed away in 2008.
She was born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late William and Ethel (Owens) Powers.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, Pa.
Billie volunteered as a Candy striper at the Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ and the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville, Pa. She loved to play golf and got a Hole in One at the Harbor Hills Golf and Country Club. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to read and garden.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jody Lutkins and her husband David of Saylorsburg, Pa.; her three grandchildren, Christopher Lutkins of Blakeslee, Pa., Jeffrey Lutkins of Saylorsburg, Pa., and Sara Dufresne of Morris Plains, N.J. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Billie's dog and faithful companion, "Molly," will miss her loving care.
Billie was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Dufresne; a grandson, Gregory Lutkins and three sisters, Mary Donovan, Helen Hoar and Alice Duncan.
May our memories of Billie continue to bring smiles to our faces, and may we always know that she is near.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will begin at 10:30 am Saturday, Nov. 2nd at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, Pa., followed by a 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, Pa.

Mrs. Marcello was born in Schenectady and graduated from the former Nott Terrace High School. She was employed by Ellis Hospital as a Sterile Processing Technician. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and was involved as a Eucharistic Minister and with marriage preparation. She also volunteered for Bingo and St. Anthony's Festa. She was a former Teacher's Aid in St. Anthony's School. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge, #321 for more than 25 years. She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northside Little League. She is survived by her husband of more than 45 years, Joseph D. Mar@hyphen@cello, Sr.; her children, Mrs. Michael (Patricia A. Marcello) Zentko of Scotia, Mrs. John (Peggy Marcello) Paniccia, Sr., and Joseph D. Marcello, Jr. all of Schenectady; her mother, Elsie Madden of Schenectady; her sisters and brother, Mrs. John (Kathleen) Mikus of Duanesburg, Mrs. Thomas (Josephine) Gilheany of Mechanicville, Patrick Madden of Rotterdam, and Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Anderson of Oxford, OH; four grandchildren, John, Jr. and Jessica Paniccia, Joseph D., III and Avae Marcello, all of Schenectady; her mother-in-law, Emma Marcello of Schenectady; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Patrick Madden and one sister, Mary Hoar. The funeral will be at 8 a.m. Tuesday from the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, 501 Union St., and 9 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Calling hours will be Monday evening after 6. Members of the Sons of Italy are requested to meet at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville. Deceased Name: Michael A. Hoar
1956-2008
HOLYOKE - Michael Andrew Hoar, of Holyoke, was called safely home after a courageous battle with complications stemming from a bone marrow transplant. He was surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He worked for the past 9 years at U.S. Tsubaki, where he was active in the local Steelworkers Union, serving as Vice-President. He was an avid New England sports fan, never missing a Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, or Celtics game. He also served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1978. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical staff at Mass General Hospital, Holyoke Medical Center, and all who participated in Michael's care. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathryn (Judd) Hoar, his children: Krystal and her husband Jorge Ayala of Westfield, Kathryn and her wife Erika Diaz of Holyoke, and GM1 Michael Hoar, stationed with the Navy in Groton CT, two brothers: John of Easthampton and Jeffrey of Easthampton, six sisters: Verda Hess of Westfield, Maria O'Brien of Chicopee, Pamela Bergeron of Holyoke Joanne Dennis of Chicopee, Jacquelyn Pitoniak of Huntington, and Jennifer Wilda of Holyoke, 14 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles. Michael was predeceased by his parents, John and Verda (LaFlamme) Hoar and a niece Tanya Dennis. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:30 in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be held Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to the Bone Marrow Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, C/O Dr. Karen Ballen, Emerson Place, Boston MA 02114.

Stuart Edward Garrett 45, formerly of Worthville, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his parents' home in Fredericksburg.
Stuart was born on June 23, 1963, in Astoria, Ore. He was the beloved adopted son of Eric and Linda Garrett. He attended Osbourn Park and Gar-Field high schools in Prince William County. He was involved with the building trades program at Gar-Field, leading to a career in the construction industry.
Stuart's Tlingit (native Alaskan) heritage led him to a love of life. He spent many years traveling throughout the United States visiting family and friends. Stuart was a loving and caring person who made friends wherever he went.
Besides his parents, Stuart is survived by his maternal grandmother, Marie Bair of Fredericksburg; his brother, William Garrett of Savannah, Ga.; and his sisters, Shirley and Martha Garrett, and Kelly Leva, all of the home, and Carmen Garrett of Fredericksburg. He also is survived by his biological family including sisters Toni Taylor of Toledo, Wash., Ernestine Drake of Woodbridge, Virginia Campbell and her husband, Ron, of Astoria, Ore., Colleen Douglas and her husband, Steve, of Tumwater, Wash., and Denise McKinnon of North Bend, Wash.; many nieces and nephew and other relatives; a childhood friend, Christopher Sisson, of Atlanta; and his wife, Nancy Roysden, of Florence Ky.
Stuart is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harry Bair; his paternal grandparents, Calvin and Jeanne Garrett, his biological parents, Eugene and Virginia Hoar; his sister, Sharon Walker; and brothers Vincent Hensey, Donald and Walter McKinnon.
A celebration of life will be held at his parent's home at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
In memory of Stuart, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
