LOZIER, 92, of Pleasant View Avenue, a tax consultant for the Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank for 15 years before retiring in 1962, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of the late Mary (Horr) Lozier. Born in Hackensack, N.J., a son of the late Remson and Annetta (Paulison) Lozier, he lived in Johnston before moving to Smithfield five years ago. Mr. Lozier was previously assistant comptroller for the Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co. for 15 years. He was a past secretary of the Town of Johnston Board of Personnel. He was a member of Temple Lodge 18 F & AM. He leaves a sister, Irma H. Slocum of St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Dennin was a graduate of Troy High School and was a retired salesman for the former Denby's of Troy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Troy and was a former member of the K of C. Bowling League. Mr. Dennin was the brother of the late Thomas, Edward, John and Fred Dennin and Mary Francis Hoar. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Hoard. 86. well known retired businessman, died at his home in West Main Street early this morning after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Frankfort. May 25. 1845. and was educated in a district school. As a young man he worked as clerk in the store of Joslin St Sheldon for two years. Then for a year he was a traveling salesman for William Gates, match manufacturer. In 1S72 he went into the hardware business In Frankfort, and continued in this field until 1801, almost 30 years, and to this work he was eminently successful. Mr. Hoard was a director In the First Natlonsl Bank up to the time of its merger and at one time was its vice president. In 1882 he built a large residence on West Main Street, which he has since occupied. In politics. Mr. Hoard was Republican, and since 1907 be had served on the board of town auditors. For several years he served as school trustee. At one time he was chosen president of the village, but declined to serve. He leaves his wife and a daughter. Mrs. J. Martin Weaver. 26579 | Obituary: Valley Breeze, The (Cumberland, RI) - July 19, 2007 Deceased Name: William F. Maloney Jr. William F. Maloney Jr., 73, of Woonsocket, died July 15. He was the loving husband of the late Cheryl Linda (Hoar) Maloney. Born March 22, 1934, in Woonsocket, a son of the late William F. and Elizabeth (Goulet) Maloney, he was a 1953 graduate of Woonsocket High School and attended Hill College. He worked at the USPFO as chief pay supervisor for the Rhode Island National Guard. He joined the Air Force in 1953, serving as an airman in Korea and Japan until 1957, and was on flight status downrange of the first missile program at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He reenlisted in 1958 and served as electronics controller for the Manned Space Flight Program in Florida and various locations around the world, retiring in 1962. In 1976 he joined the 1118th Engineer Company, Rhode Island National Guard. During Operation Desert Storm and Desert Storm, he played an integral part in supporting the families of area soldiers. On the day he retired, Sept. 30, 1991, Gov. Bruce Sundlun named that day Master Sergeant William F. Maloney Day. He was the recipient of the National Guard Certificate of Service in recognition of 20 years of service, the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a member of Cercle Laurier and the Italian Working Men's Club in Woonsocket. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. He leaves a daughter, Erin Maloney of Woonsocket; a sister, Nancy Roy of North Smithfield; three granddaughters, Brittany, Karissah and Cherylind; and many nieces and nephews. | Maloney, William F. 26580 | Obituary: VERNON HOAR: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Press Democrat, The (Santa Rosa, CA) - December 20, 1995 Deceased Name: VERNON HOAR Vernon Hoar, member of a pioneer Petaluma-area family, died Saturday at a Petaluma convalescent center. He was 93. Hoar's great-grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Hoar, was living in Petaluma when word of President Abraham Lincoln's 1865 assassination reached the West Coast, according to Vernon Hoar's daughter, Marilynne Hoar of Penngrove. A lifetime Sonoma County resident, Hoar finished the sixth grade at Bloomfield School, then began working on local ranches. He later worked for poultry producers in Penngrove and Petaluma before starting work for an investment firm in Santa Rosa in 1940. He retired after suffering a stroke in 1976. He continued to live in Penngrove, and enjoyed ocean fishing and gardening. ''He always tried to help other people,'' his daughter said. In addition to his daughter, Hoar is survived by his son, Vernon Hoar Jr. of Forestville; another daughter, Phyllis Bottarini of Penngrove; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 26581 | Obituary: VIRGINIA HOAR SHELLER: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA) - September 11, 1997 Deceased Name: VIRGINIA HOAR SHELLER FORMER READING SPECIALIST, 89 Virginia Hoar Sheller, 89, of Cheltenham, a retired reading specialist for children with special needs, died Friday in the medical center at the Rydal Park retirement community in Abington. Mrs. Sheller was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Girls' High School in 1925 and from the former Philadelphia Normal School in 1927. Later, she received bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Temple University. She was an elementary school teacher before she became a reading specialist for children with special needs at Logan Demonstration School in Philadelphia. When the School District of Philadelphia introduced television as a teaching tool, she was among the first teachers to be part of the program. She retired in 1973. Mrs. Sheller was a member of Melrose-Carmel Presbyterian Church and a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Germantown. She also belonged to local and state associations of retired teachers. A former student of both the piano and voice, she continued her interest in the arts as a music lover and a supporter of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Also a homemaker, for many years she was married to Samuel S. Sheller. He died in 1985. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Baron Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Rd. (Route 611), Abington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Susquehanna and Easton Roads, Roslyn. 26588 | Obituary: Wiiliam S. Fox, a native of Lovell, but for several years resident of this town, died suddenly aat his home in this village, early thursday morning. While he has for a long time been in ill health, his condition up to within a few hours of his death had not materially changed. He was taken sick some time during the night and died early in the morning Thursday. Mr. Fox was born in Lovell, July 19, 1871, the son of John and Marietta (Horr) Fox. He was prominent in the life of that town, holding various town offices and dealing extensively in lumber. He came to Bridgton some few years ago and opened a grocery store in the building on Main Hill, long occupied by W. E. Marriner. He later sold out this business ane engaged in the automobile and garage business, in Pondicherry Square, which was his business at the time of his death. He had been prominent in political and fraternal circles, serving on the republican town committee and was four times elected master of Highland Grange, holding that position at the time of his death. He was also Past Commander of Isaiah S. Webb Camp, Sons of Veterans; was a member of Highland Lodge, Knights of Pythias and of its auxiliary, the Pythian Sisters. He was also an Odd Fellow. He married Corinne Lord, of Lovell, about forthy years ago, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Earle, of this place and four daughters, namely, Leora, Mrs. Byron McAllister, of Lowvell; Christine, Mrs. Lee Blake, of Brown field and Corinne, who is a student at the Bridgton High School and lives at home. Theer are eleven grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, Josiah, of Lovell and Walter and Lewis of Bangor.
