Sales on the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in November and April saw a dramatic increase in the products adoption in our surname project. Our three main, active family branches all saw one or more members add yDNA deep SNP testing via NGS. Such testing, beside greatly refining the phylogenetic tree work, really helps to bridge the gap between traditional yDNA SNP Haplogroup testing and nearer term STR testing. While National Geographics Genographic Geno2.0+ test is still the best value NGS test for yDNA SNP's (outside the USA), the FamilyTreeDNA BigY, when on sale, becomes an attractive stretch target to gather that much more data. We look forward to the day when one can simply full sequence the Y chromosome. But until then, NGS is a great step towards that goal.

Our family branches have new terminal nodes in the latest phylogenetic tree as a result of expanded use of the BigY test in the past year.
