      Pantagraph, The (Bloomington, IL) - April 23, 2000

      Asher, Madelon A. Roberts - age 82 of Gibson City died at 7 p.m. Friday, 4-21-2000 at the Gibson Area Hospital Annex in Gibson City. Private graveside service was April 24 at Drummer Twp Cemetery in Gibson City with the Reverend Wayne Shelksohn officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery. There was no visitation. Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Asher was born 1-28-1918 at Abington, a daughter of Dale and Beulah Horr Roberts. She married Lt. Elmer C. Asher on 6-6-1942 at Washington District of Columbia Survivors include her husband, Elmer C. Asher of Gibson City, one son, Gary Asher of Byron; one daughter, Sharon Chace of St. Paul, MN; one step-granddaughter, Kim Asher of Byron; two brothers, Evan Roberts of Peotone and Richard Roberts of Gilman; and one sister, Rowena Dalziel of Dwight. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Asher graduated from Gardner South Wilmington Township High School in 1936. She attended Illinois State University at Normal and the Gallagher School of Business in Kankakee. She worked for the Civil Aeronautics Adm. in Washington, DC until she married. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gibson City. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
