      Obituary:
      Mr. Clarence Elton Showalter, formerly of Keewatin, Ont., passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998 at the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. Born at the Port Arthur General on March 23, 1922, he was raised and educated in Morson, Ont. He had lived in Emo, Ont. for 19 years before moving to Mando Camp #251, finally settling in Keewatin. During World War II, Mr. Showalter had served his country overseas. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Mathilda (nee Pattison); his father, Ralph, and mother, Henri-Etta (nee Mergel); two brothers, Ralph and Leonard; sister-in-law, Elma Showalter; brother-in-law, Albert Ferris; brother-in-law, Bill Pietila; sister-in-law, Arleen Pallister; brothers-in-law, Malcom (Mac) Pattison and Morris Pattison; and his mother and father-in-law, William and Ella Pattison. Clarence will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Eileen Paul and husband, Kenneth Laurence, and Carol Wetendorph; four grandchildren, Sandra, Kimberly, Sherry, and Evonne; and five great-grandchildren, Braden, Jackie, Scott, Chase, and Bret. Also left to mourn are his sisters-in-law, Grace Showalter of Nestor Falls and Edna Pattison of Emo; one brother, Manley Showalter of Kelowna, B.C. and wife, Josephine; one brother-in-law, Cecil Pattison of Valleyview, Alta. and wife, Buleau; two sisters, Arlie Gibson and husband, Jim, living in Atikokan, and Hazel Pietila, living in Pemberton, B.C.; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. Pastor Watts will officiate, with interment to follow at a late date in Emo. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Mr. Clarence Showalter may be directed to either the Alzheimers Society, c/o Freda Stagg, 205-450 Laurenside Lane, Kenora, Ont., P9N 4C9, The War Amps, National Headquarters, 2827 Riverside Dr., Ottawa, Ont., K1V 0C4, or the Lutheran Good Shepherd Church.
