Cadwell, 87, former Levering resident, died Aug. 11, 1986, at the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills, Fla. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug 16, at the Bliss Township Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Jaquish will officiate. The former Gertrude J. Hoar was born Mar. 20, 1899, in Bliss Township, the daughter of Samuel and Lucy (Crandall) Hoar. She attended Levering public schools and graduated from Pellston High School. She then attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti where she met Marvin Cadwell. On June 9, 1919, the couple were married at Central Lake. They made their home in Levering and in 1964 moved to Zephyrhills, Fla. Mr. Cadwell preceded her in death in 1978 and Mrs. Cadwell continued to make her home in Zephyrhills. For the past seven years she had been a resident of a nursing home in Zephyrhills. She is a member of the United Methodist Church in Levering and Zephyrhills; a former member of Pellston Chapter No. 423, Order of Eastern Star. She was also a former treasurer of McKinley No. 2 school district. Survivors include: four sons, Edward of Munising, Lee of Zephyrhills, Albert of Grand Ledge and Jerry of Lansing; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the Levering United Methodist Church. Envelopes for that purpose will be available prior to the graveyard service. Arrangements are being handled by the Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
