Shirley M. Schipps
Member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Shirley M. Horr Schipps, 64, of 105 Latimer Avenue, Strabane, died Sunday, October 18, 1998, in Bay Front Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Fla. She was born March 3, 1934, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Harry and Hollis Young Horr. Mrs. Schipps was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Canonsburg, a charter member and president of North Strabane Women's Association, a member of North Strabane Democratic Women's Association, American German Beneficial Union and Moose Club women's auxiliary of Canonsburg. She was employed as an administrative nurse at Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville. She retired in 1966. On May 20, 1960, she married Donsel Schipps, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Anita S. Allwardt of St. Petersburg; a son, Donsel Shipps Jr. of Strabane; two grandchildren, Cody and Calie Allwardt; an uncle, Jim Toth of Canonsburg; and a cousin, R.T. Bell.
CORRECTION
IN THE OBITUARY OF Shirley M. Schipps, published Tuesday, the name of a surviving son, Donsel Schipps Jr., was misspelled. Mrs. Schipps retired in 1996, not 1966.
SCHIPPS - Friends of Shirley M. Horr Schipps of Strabane, who died Sunday, October 18, 1998, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, with the Rev. Paul Wheeler, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
