The body of the man found floating
In Flushing Bay Monday was
Identified yesterday as that of Michael
Joseph Hoar, 57, of 37-17 29th
street, Astoria.
Police at the same time said that
Hoar apparently had gone swimming
In the bay early Monday, his
clothes being found on the shore
not 200 feet from the spot where
his body, clothed only In bathing
trunks, came lo the surface. Death
was pronounced due to drowning.
The Identification was made yesterday
at the morgue of Queens
General Hospital by Mrs. Mamie
McGrath, a lifelong friend, of 37-51
Old Ridge road, Astoria.
Site told police that Hoar's only
known relative was a nephew, John
J. Hoar, of Springfield, Mass.
Hoar, she said, was a veteran of
Ihe World War and a widower.
