  Note from Liz: Edward graduated from Arcata High School in 1902 and from University of California Berkeley in 1907 with a degree in electrical engineering. His subsequent career with ESB ( Electric Storage Battery) lasted many years as he traveled around the country installing and maintaining the huge battery banks that powered the signals on our nation's newly finished transcontinental railroad system.During his years at the university he was active in the ROTC program and with that group rushed into San Francisco to help with the evacuation after the earthquake of 1906.
