      of Fitchburg, Air Force vet; 57
      FITCHBURG -- Rodney R. Davis, 57, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, in Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, after an illness.
      He was born February 20, 1952, in Dexter, Maine, son of Arlene G. (Hammond) and the late Roger R. Davis. Rodney graduated from York High School in Yorktown, Virginia in 1970. Mr. Davis worked as an Equipment Installer for Verizon for almost 20 years until his illness.
      He was an active member of Twin City Baptist Temple where he enjoyed helping with building projects, and was a member of the choir. He loved his Church and Pastor.
      He was proud to serve as a Combat Medic in the United States Air Force for two tours in Germany and in Korea. Following his service in the Air Force, he continued in the United States Army Reserves earning the rank of Sergeant. Rodney enjoyed airplanes and played the French Horn.
      Besides his mother, Arlene G. Davis of Maine, he leaves his wife, Karen A. (Giddings) Davis; his daughter, Rachel Marie Straub and her husband, Scott Jonathan Straub of Hudson, Maine, and Robert Rodney Davis of Fitchburg; two grandsons, Colby Daniel Straub and Maxwell Jacob Straub, both of Hudson, Maine; his siblings, Linda Hoar of Guilford, MA, Roger Davis of Newburgh, Maine, Diana Patterson of Dexter, Maine, and Richard Davis of Spring Hills, FL.
      He was predeceased by his father, Roger Davis, his nephew, Benjamin Davis, his grandparents, Alice and Floyd Hammond, and Ralph and Vera Mae Davis.
      DAVIS -- The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan-uary 21, at 11:00 A.M. at Twin City Baptist Temple, 194 Electric Ave., Lunenburg. Burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
