  [[ Obituary: Sunday Republican (Springfield, MA) - March 23, 2003 Deceased Name: James F. Boyd 1932 - 2003 EAST LONGMEADOW - James F. Boyd, 70, of East Longmeadow, died suddenly at home on Thursday, March 20. Born in Springfield to the late Francis P. and Anna M. (Hoar) Boyd, he lived in Springfield most of his life and resided the past 16 years in East Longmeadow. James was a graduate of Cathedral High School in 1950 and attended Mt. Saint Mary College and American International College. Over the years, James became a valued salesman of the Russell Stover Candy Co. for 13 years, and later with Chilton Manuals and Hollander Manuals, both companies produced automotive aftermarket repair manuals sold to repair facilities and salvage yards. A former member of the Musician Guild, he was a well-known local piano player. James most recently worked as a piano tuner and continued to follow his passion for music. He loved reading and was also an avid gardener. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Church in East Longmeadow. James was a loving father and husband. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, M. Adele (Clune) Boyd of East Longmeadow; 3 sons, James F. Boyd, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Springfield, Robert M. Boyd of Springfield, and Michael D. Boyd and his wife Jennifer of Pepperell, MA; a daughter, Patricia M. LaBranch and her husband Peter of East Longmeadow; two sisters, Margaret Putnam of Windsor, CT and Sally Herrick of Madison, CT. James is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Katlyn Keenan, Breanna Keenan, J. Paul Boyd and Samantha Boyd. The funeral will be Monday, March 24, 9 a.m. from the Hafey East Longmeadow Chapels, 120 Shaker Rd., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.,m. in St. Michael's Church, East Longmeadow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
