Deceased Name: Elsa D. Hoar
Elsa Doerner Hoar, 98, a 33-year resident of Olympia and Lacey, died of breast cancer Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Panorama City Convalescent Center, Lacey.
She was born June 4, 1902, to Alfred and Nettie (Skinner) Doerner in Denver.
She married Dr. Ira Mark Bundy on Sept. 2, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1972. She married Leslie L. Hoar on Feb. 12, 1977. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Hoar taught school in Grants Pass, Ore., and Kennewick from 1925 to 1935. She worked for the Washington State University Library from 1935 to 1967.
She was a member of Delta Seat Sorority, National Federation of Business and Professionals, Pullman Senior Center, a charter member of American Association of Retired Persons, Thurston County Retired Teachers Association, Kiwanis Ladies of Olympia, Washington State University Retirees Association and the Quarter Century Club of Washington State University.
She enjoyed walking, hiking, camping, dancing, swimming, cards and games, traveling, music, drama, lectures and volunteer work, especially in the Panorama City Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Hoar is survived by two stepdaughters, Doris Hoar and Roasalie Woodard four step-grandchildren eight step-great-grandchildren one niece and two nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Panorama City Chapel, Lacey.
Inurnment will be at Portland Memorial Cemetery, Portland.
