Obituary:
Marion Elaine Patterson
Sept 12, 1920 - Mar 7, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Marion Elaine Patterson went to be with her Lord of All, her most precious friend, Jesus Christ, on March 7th, 2013.
Marion was born in Salem MA, to Joseph Augustus and Eva May Hoar. She initially planned to become a teacher and studied at Perry Kindergarten School in MA, but then changed course and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School in Boston.
While living in Salem, Marion became a local radio personality "Marion Holt" and graced the early 1940's airwaves hosting a talk show on WESX. At age 28, she moved to San Francisco, CA where she worked as the secretary of the College of Pharmacy at UCSF.
Marion met her husband, Nathan Hugh Patterson, in 1950. They were married 62 years. They raised four children: Nathan Hugh Patterson III (Pamela), Nancy Valerie Ward (Jay), Michael Anthony Patterson (April), and Stephanie Jean Palomo (John). After their children were in school, Marion restarted her career working at Leigh High School and Del Mar High School. She later worked at San Jose State University, Department of Chemistry, and retired in 1980. Nate and Marion had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren they very much loved.
Marion's husband, Nate, passed away in his sleep on February 21st, 2013. Two weeks later, Marion passed away peacefully with much of her family surrounding her bed. Marion and Nate dearly loved each other and their family. They will be forever in our hearts.
