      William A. Colton one of the
      oldest pioneer residents of the
      Rockaways, died suddenly yesterday
      at the home of a relative
      Mrs. Kathorino McDonald, at 324
      Beach 115th street, Ncponslt.
      Colton was bora tn Manhattan
      September 20, 1874. He was the
      son of the late Michael and Mar
      garet Colton. He was a resident
      of the Rockaways for more than
      10 years, residing at 179 Beach
      114th street for the past 35 years.
      His wife, Theresa Colton, died ten
      years ago.
      Colton with his brother John,
      was in the building business in
      Roekaway and together they
      erected more than 200 homes in
      the Belle Harbor, Neponsit areas.
      They also built the Harbor Inn,
      which they owned until 1917,
      when they sold it.
      Colton was the oldest parish
      oner at St. Rose of Lima R.C.
      Church, Beach 84th street, He
      was also a charter member of the
      Veteran Firemen's Association of
      the Fifth Ward.
      One daughter, Mrs. Margaret
      Dougherty of 195 Beach 115th
      street, two sons, William Colton
      jr., of 179 Beach t i l t h street and
      Stanley Colton of White Plans.
      N. Y., one brother John Colton, of
      195 Beach 109th street and four
      grandchildren, survive.
      He is reposing at the Denis S.
      O'Connor Funeral Home. Beach
      84th street. Requiem Mass will
      be offered Saturday morning in
      St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church at
      10 am. Interment will take place
      in St. Mary's Cemetery, Law
      rene..
