Deceased Name: HOAR, Margaret Ethel
HOAR, Margaret Ethel, nee Mahoney, age 93, lifelong resident of Port Washington and former director of the Port Washington Senior Citizens, on November 2, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Loving mother of Kathleen Finnerty (William), William P. (Phyllis), Pamela and the late James. Adored grandmother of Karen, Meaghan, Michael, Thomas, Robert, Margaret, Catherine, Patrick, Brian, and Melissa. Loving mother in law of Gail. Reposing at Austin F. Knowles Inc. Funeral Home, 128 Main St., Port Washington, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10AM at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Donations in her memory to St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church, 1327 Port Washington Blvd, Port Washington, NY 11050 would be greatly appreciated.

Margaret Ethel Hoar (nee Mahoney), a lifelong resident of Port Washington, died Nov. 2, 2012, at age 93.
The daughter of Patrick and Agnes Mahoney, she was born in Sands Point on April 8, 1919, and graduated from Port Washington High School. After attending Packard Business School, she was a secretary at Brown and Sharpe Mfg. Co. in New York City, where she met her late husband, Robert C. Hoar.
In 1969, she became assistant director of the Port Washington Senior Citizens Inc., and then served as executive director there from 1976 to 1988. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter of Alcantara Church, and was a member of St. Peter's Guild and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Finnerty (William), William (Phyllis) and Pamela; her daughter-in-law, Gail Kennedy Hoar; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert, and her son, James. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Margaret, Thomas and Catherine, and George Mahoney.
