Helen V. Main, 86, of West Alexander, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, in Washington Hospital, after being in failing health for the past several years.
She was born March 16, 1922, in Marshall County, W.Va., a daughter of Lil Burn and Utia Mae Mahan Gittings, and had resided in the West Alexander area for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Main was a member of West Alexander United Methodist Church and had attended Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School.
She and her husband enjoyed square dancing as long as their health permitted.
On November 28, 1941, she married Glenn Reed Main, who died July 19, 1999.
Surviving are her primary caregivers, Charles E. and Donna Horr Dague of Valley Grove, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, John Reed Main, who died April 25, 1994; two sisters, Dorothy Horr and Jean Magale; and a brother, who died in infancy.
Mrs. Main was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in West Alexander United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, with the Rev. Linda Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas, W.Va. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Alexander U.M. Church, PO Box 302, West Alexander, PA 15376. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville.
