"Lt. David Strong b. Aug .17,1825, m. Nov. 4, 1852, Frances Augusta Daniels b. in Chatham, Sept. 2, 1831 (dau. of Bartlett Shepard Daniels b. in Chatham, Feb. 26, 1799, a farmer, and Florilla Fuller b. July 2, 1800, whom he m. May 6, 1830). She d March 24, 1856 : and he m. Sept. 14, 1857, Chloe Maria Colt b. in Torrington, Ct., Sept. 6, 1834 (dau. of Henry Colt, b. Nov. 25, 1800, a farmer, and Chloe Catlin b June 24, 1805, whom he m. Oct. 19, 1829). She d. Feb. 2, 1865. He m. June 7, 1866, for 3d wife, Emerette Lois Colt b. Nov. 21, 1841, in Torrington, Ct. (sister of his previous wife, Chloe).
During the late rebellion, he was 1st Lieut, in Co of the 24th Regt.
He was in Banks' Expedition in the Gulf Department, and in all the forced marches from New Orleans to Port Hudson. His captain being off duty from sickness, he commanded his company during these marches and the siege of Port Hudson. He is engaged in manufacturingand mercantile pursuits in Winsted, Ct., and manufactures coffin trimmings.
