William N. Hoar, 83, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home and formerly of 45 Upper Glen Drive, Lewistown, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at the nursing home. Born Jan. 26, 1924, in Centre County, he was a son of the late Plummer and Bessie (Hackenberry) Hoar and raised by his late paternal aunt, Annie Jordan, who died in 1967. His wife, Betty A. (Smith) Hoar, preceded him in death on April 28, 2004. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Bernie (Deena) Zook, of 45 Upper Glen Drive, Lewistown. Also surviving are grandchildren Jason Zook, of Burnham, Kristin Zook, of Lewistown, and Ronald Hoar Jr., of Pittsburgh, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald M. Hoar Sr., in 1987, and a brother, Harold Hoar. He was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory, Lewistown, International Postal Supply and last in maintenance at F.W. Black's Hospital, retiring due to disability in 1977. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Juniata Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Gary A. Roth officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorials be made to Mifflin-Juniata American Cancer Society, 342 S. Logan Blvd., Burnham, PA 17009.
