BENTON, Mrs. Dorothy Marie - A life long resident of Millington, went home with our Lord Sunday morning, April 6, 2003 while at the Sun Crest Medical Facility in Lapeer, MI. Dorothy was 83. Dorothy was born April 11, 1919 in Genesee County and was the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Gibson) Hoard and had been a life long Millington resident. Dorothy married Mr. Frank C. Benton on November 2, 1935 and together they shared 43 years of marriage before Frank passed in 1978. Dorothy was employed for many years at Fall's 5 & 10?! Value Store in Millington, she was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Millington and was once active as an adopted grandparents for the Mayville Schools. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her family; children, Roberta and Richard Lumsden of Org., Howard and Eleanor Benton of Millington, Elaine and Jim Snyder of Lapeer, MI, Willie and Sue Ill of Millington; grandchildren; Rusty, Jimmy, Clifford, Jeff, Virginia, Shelley, Eric, and Neil, as well as 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Polk Webster. Also, she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Ila Raymond, Mrs. Chris Sebert, and Mrs. Norma Harris as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dorothy is also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ill in 1993, and a grandson, Howard Dean Benton in 1984, and also 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 1PM Thursday April 10, 2003 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, with the burial to follow at the Millington Twp. Cemetery, Pastor James Bruner will officiate the services. Friends may call at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Wednesday where the family will be present to receive friends from 1PM until 8pm Dorothy will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 11:30AM until the hour of the services. If one would like to give a gift of remembrance in Dorothy's memory the family has asked that you please consider doing so to either St. Paul Lutheran Church, or to the Sun Crest Medical Care Facility Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements have been in care of Hanlin Funeral Home.
