April 23, 1774, Martha, their da., married on Feb. 1, 1795, in Sharon, Yt., Jesse Ames of Fairlee, Yt., where they settled and lived till 1806, wlien they moved to Ilovalton, Yt. They resided here till 1850. They then moved to Mount Morris, in Livingston Co., i^. Y., where she died on Jan. 2G, 1859. She was the mother of nine children, all of whom, as also her husband, survived her. Mr. Thomas Howard passed his early years in Pomfret, Conn., assisting his father in his tanning and farming busi- ness. On his marriage, if not before, he settled in Monson, Mass. How long he continued to reside there, and in the other places afterwards named, is only approximately known by his church relations. On Dec. 14, 1777, he and his wife were received into the Congregational Church in Somers, Conn., by letters from the church in Monson. AVhen they united with this latter church is not known. The early records of the church in Monson are lost. On Oct. 5, 1780, they took letters from the church in Somers to the church in Lebanon, N. H., where their names are found enrolled. They subsequently moved to Sharon, Yt., where thej' both died as stated alcove. Of his, pursuits in life, and of his standing and influence as a citizen, little is now known. That he was an upright Christian man is readily inferred from the foregoing jnirticulars.
