James Clark Hoar, 44, a former resident of Winnetka, died suddenly of a heart attack on Dec. 29 in his home in Brookline, Mass.
Mr. Hoar was a native of Port Washington, N.Y. and attended St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School and St. Mary's High School in Manhasset before graduating from Fordham University and Hofstra School of Law.
Prior to becoming a corporate counsel for Ameriking in Chicago, he served as an attorney with Boston Market and Burger King. Eventually he moved to New England where he became a development counsel with Panera LLC in Needham, Mass.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Kennedy Hoar; two sons, Patrick Hoar and Brian Hoar; a daughter, Melissa Hoar; his parents, Robert and Margaret Hoar of Port Washington; a brother, William (Phyllis) Hoar; two sisters, Kathleen (William) Finnerty and Pamela Hoar; his father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Lorraine Kennedy of Port Washington; his brother-in-law, Glenn (Marianne) Kennedy; and seven nieces and nephews. Services were held in Port Washington, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund established for his young children: the James Hoar Children's Fund. Checks will be accepted at any Bank One branch or may be mailed to Bank One, 400 East Ogden Ave., Hinsdale IL 60252.
