by John Boyce, Marshal
237th dwelling, 247th family enumerated in the census
Loomis Bunce, age 51, male, born in Massachusetts, lived for 30 years in Yates County, lived in a frame dwelling worth $2,000. Mary Bunce, age 42, female, wife, born in Steuben County, had lived in Yates County for 17 years Eliza Bunce, age 17, female, child, born in Yates County Melvin Bunce, age 12, male, child, born in Yates County Benjamin Horr, age 16, male, adopted, born in Steuben County, lived in Yates County 9 years.
Note: Benjamin Horr's name did not appear in the probate record for
either Mary (Holmes) Bunce dated 1868, or Loomis Bunce dated March, 1880,
so perhaps Loomis Bunce gave him an inheritance prior to his death, or
Benjamin may have died young. Perhaps he was a relative of Mary (Holmes)
Bunce since he had also come from Steuben Co., New York
