      a.k.a.
      Robert "Bob" Hoar Formerly of 715 Dorchester Road, Baltimore, MD.
      Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), November 24, 2005, Robert E.
      "Bob" Haar crossed the threshold of the Kingdom of Heaven to join with his late wife, Mildred (Eshelbrenner) Haar, who went before him in October, 1971.
      Bob was born in Lancaster on January 21, 1909.
      He attended the public schools of Lancaster, graduating from the Lancaster Boys High School, February, 1926.
      Upon graduation from high school, Bob was temporarily employed at Armstrong Cork Company before being employed as an engineering draftsman by the Edison Electric Company of Lancaster (now PPL).
      Franklin and Marshall College granted Bob its first swimming athletic scholarship with responsibility to coach the college swimming team and managing the opening of the Fackenthal swimming pool facilities.
      While attending Franklin and Marshall College, Bob was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, where he served as president and other offices.
      Bob served as president of the Inter Fraternity Council.
      After graduation from Franklin and Marshall College with a B.S. degree in the class of 1933 he was recipient of the Williamson Award given annually to the outstanding graduate.
      Later he was inducted into the Franklin and Marshall Sports Hall of Fame.
      When the swimming pool of the Lancaster Country Club was completed in the summer of 1930, Bob was employed as its first lifeguard and swimming instructor.
      Bob continued summer employment at the Lancaster Country Club through 1934.
      In the meantime, Bob and Mildred were married.
      In the fall of 1934 they moved to the Baltimore, MD area, where Bob had accepted employment by Montgomery Ward Company as a purchaser and merchandiser.
      Bob continued his employment until he retired February 1, 1974.
      Bob was very active in his community and received many recognitions and awards for his volunteer services.
      He was elected president of the Kensington Improvement Association and later as its treasurer until he suffered a debilitating stroke March 8, 2004.
      He was a staunch advocate for the concerns of the community.
      On military leave from Montgomery Ward Company, Lt.
      Robert E.
      Haar, USN, served Naval Supply Corps, 1943-1945.
      His last off-shore assignment was the Naval Supply Depot on the island of Guam.
      Upon discharge from active duty, he was assigned to the U.S.
      Naval Reserve, being honorably discharged in October, 1955.
      Upon release from active duty, Bob returned to his employment at Montgomery Ward Company.
      In addition to his late wife, Mildred (Eshelbrenner) Haar, Robert E.
      Haar was predeceased by his parents, Miller E. and Ella K. (Weise) Hoar; brothers, Franklin B.
      Haar, husband of the late Billie Haar, and Kenneth W.
      Haar, husband of the late Jacqueline (Marantz) Haar; sisters, Loretta H.
      Walker, survived by husband, Eugene Walker, Palm Harbor, FL, and Jean H.
      Coho, survived by husband Ralph Coho Jr., Willow Street.
      In addition to his brothers-in-law, Bob is survived by nieces and nephews of the Haar, Eshelbrenner, Coho, and Walker families.
      Acceding to the instructions of Bob Haar, there will be no formal funeral or memorial services.
      It is suggested that remembrance contributions be made to the Franklin and Marshall College Advancement Office, P.O.
      Box 3003, Lancaster, PA 17604-3003.
