Hoar, 86, a longtime Lowell resident, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Lowell General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Aileen (McKenna) Hoar, who died in 2003. He was born in Lowell on July 20, 1918, the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Delaney) Hoar. Mr. Hoar graduated from Lowell High School in 1936, and from the University of Alabama. He received his law degree from Boston College Law School. Mr. Hoar served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant during World War II. He practiced law in Lowell for many years before his retirement. He was also a former city solicitor for Lowell. Mr. Hoar was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford, and St. Margaret's Church in Lowell. He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Ann McDonald of Chelmsford; two grandchildren; a brother, Paul Hoar of Lowell; a sister, Beatrice Hoar of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 26, at St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford. Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell. Arrangements were under the care of the Dolan Funeral Home, Chelmsford.]]
