HERBERT LYSANDER HORR
New Salem lost an esteemed resident, and its oldest, in the death Saturday afternoon, August 7, 1940, of Herbert L. Horr, 95. He was the second son of Nelson and Laura E. (Lombard) Horr and was born in Prescott July 24, 1845. He worked many years
for Lyman Moore in the grist mill at Millington. He married on January 1, 1873, Emma A. Dean of this town, the marriage taking place in the home which had been bought by Miss Dean's parents in 1843. In this house, the birthplace of the bride, the couple made their home. Their silver and golden wedding anniversaries were celebrated there and it was in the same residence that Mrs. Horr died on January 7, 1934. Since her death Mr.
Horr had continued to make his home there. Mr. Horr leaves one daughter, Miss May Horr, who has made her home with him, and two nieces, Mrs. Francis Spooner of Spencer and Mrs. Harry Stetson of Adams, and several grand nieces and nephews.
