BYRON - Edward E. Hoar, 93, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, in Neighbors Nursing Home, Byron. Born Aug. 16, 1908, in Mystic, Iowa, to Thomas and Nora (McConville) Hoar. Edward married Norma Baylor on Nov. 1, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa. He was employed as a truck driver for 38 years, working for Rockford By-Products and Darling & Co. Previously employed as a farmer and coal miner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, and member of Byron American Legion Post 209. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Byron. Also was a member of Winnebago County Mounted Deputies. Survivors include wife, Norma of Byron sister, Magdalan Hoover of Rockford brother, Edward McConville of Phoenix, Ariz. and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and brothers, Robert James Charles and LaVern. Special thank you to the caring, loving staff of Neighbors Nursing Home.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, in Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, with rosary at 6:30, and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
