    • IGI shows marriage date of about 1811. The date of the marriage would
have to be at least 1805 based on the birth date of William. I believe
that the 1811 date was arrived at based on the age of Benjamin.

  • Notes
    • Died in Panama, N. Y., July 14th, 1883, Betsy Elizabeth HOBART, in the
76th year of her age. The subject of the above notice was the daughter of
David PRESTON, and was born Aug. 25th, 1807, at Fort Ann, Washington
County, NY, and removed with her parents to Chautauqua county in 1823,
who settled on the farm in this town now owned by Alfred L. LEWIS. She
was married Aug. 25th 1825, to Loren HOBART, by whom she had five
children, viz:-Marlin, George, Phoebe, Edward B., and Eliza, only two of
whom are now living, Edward B., our townsman and Eliza. Her husband died
September 25, 1867, since which time she has lived with her son Edward.
She has one sister, Mrs. S. KEENE, of Hobart, Ind., who has been
priviledged to be with her for a few weeks before her death, and one
brother, David PRESTON, of Detroit, Mich., who arrived a few hours after
the funeral service, which was held at the residence of her son on
Wesleyan street, in this village, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 17th, Rev.
S.N. CLARK of the M.E. Church officiating, and was buried in the old
cemetery in the eastern part of our village, in a handsome casket richly
trimmed in black. Early in her youth Mrs. HOBART gave her heart to the
Lord, and soon after united with the M.E. Church, of which she has ever
since been a consistent member, adorning the profession of a christian
with an examplary life and Godly conversation, and after a long sickness
and much suffering, which she bore with fortitude and patience.
