Her sister's obituary:
WATERVLIET '96 Janet Ruth (Freehauf) Gaunay, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
Born in Mekees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Janet was one of seven children born to Francis and Harriet (Bayshore) Freehauf, both now deceased. As a young girl Janet moved to Watervliet with her family and resided there for most of her life. She was a graduate of Watervliet High School and was employed for ten years as a dietician at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. She had also been employed in retail sales at F.W. Woolworth Company and part time as a key-punch operator for the State of New York. Janet was very patriotic, always flying the American flag in front of her house and supporting the veterans of this country through organizations such as Veterans of the Vietnam War and the Veterans Coalition. She was also very proud of her German and Dutch heritage. Janet was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and enjoyed singing with the senior choir and dancing.She was the wife of the late William J. Gaunay, Sr.; mother of Laura M. Connors and Julia A. Acevedo both of Watervliet and the late Deanna S. Delaney; grandmother of Stephanie K. Connors, Noelle M. Alvez, Sharon L. Connors and Jordan George; sister of Elizabeth Care and Harriet Horr. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, James and Dorothy Freehauf and niece, Rosemarie Freehauf. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A service will be held for Janet on Friday at 6 PM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet where the Reverend Nicholas TeBordo will officiate. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Janet's family on Friday from 4 PM until 7 PM. WATERVLIET '96 Anthony J. Care, 81, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Watervliet on August 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Sabastiano and Elizabeth Lombardo Care. Raised and educated in Watervliet, Mr. Care was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning home, he was employed for his whole career by the former Behr-Manning Co. and later the Norton Company in Watervliet as an electrician before retiring. He was very handy and enjoyed taking care of his rental properties in Watervliet. He was an avid reader and also loved to walk and ride his bike and enjoyed meeting up with people to talk with. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Agnes Freehauf Care, devoted father of Robert A. (Helen) Care of Albany, Kathleen M. (Michael) Basile of Schenectady and Ronald P. Care of Watervliet, foster-father of Donald J. Horr, grandfather of Adrienne M. Care, Samantha J. Basile and Cassandra S. Basile, brother of Bette (Leo) Hebert of Florida and the late Teresa Sanna, Jane Chaplin and Natalie Brown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Sunday from 3:00'964:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 4:30 pm. Following cremation, his ashes will be entombed at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
