      Billy Jack Adams of County Road 73 in Headland died late Wednesday night, July 18, 2007, in a Dothan hospital. He was 64.
      Funeral services will be Saturday in Blackwood Church at 10 a.m. with Dr. C.J. Campbell and the Rev. Joey Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary in Headland.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
      Mr. Adams was born near Headland, son of the late Elbert Adams and Meadie Smothers Adams. He was reared in Henry and Dale Counties and also lived in Headland many years before moving to the Blackwood community in Dale County in 1980. Mr. Adams was a 1961 graduate of Newville High School and was a member of the Blackwood Church. He was retired, due to disability, from Southside Granite Company in Dothan. Mr. Adams was employed in the monument business most of his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton Adams, Clifton Adams and Rance Adams.
      Surviving relatives include his wife Carolyn Blackmon Adams of Headland; a daughter, Jackie Adams Broadhead and husband Mike Broadhead of Birmingham; a son, Scottie J. Adams and wife Cindy Adams of Lynn Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Inez Hoar and Jerry Hoar of Ozark, Marvell Armstrong and husband Jack Armstrong of Headland, Shirley Davis and husband Jim Davis of Abbeville; a brother, Halton Adams of Newville; three grandchildren, Clay Hill, Jessica Adams and Clint Adams.
      Serving as active pallbearers will be Greg Hughes, Randy Armstrong, Rodney Armstrong, Melvin Adams, Lonnie Adams and Bill Sullivan.
