Obituary:
James Richard Orr, of 3232 Richardson, died Friday evening at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Butte Dec. 29, 1940, to James T. and Elaine (Driscoll) Hoar. He graduated from Butte High School in 1959 and served his country in the Air Force. He worked as an electrician for the Anaconda Co. for 26 years. He retrained after the closure of the ACM and worked as an instrumentation and control technician for MSE until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Arco Retiree's Club, the Montana Cornish Cousins and was always ready and willing to help anyone in need.
James married Carol Whithorn on June 28, 1972, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Melanie and Tom Prescott of Boise, Lindsay Orr of the University of Montana in Missoula and Susan Turney of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Chuck and Kate Turney; mother, Elaine Hoar of Butte; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Maureen Orr of Anaconda and John T. and Beverly Orr of Tehachapi, Calif.; other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins including his special cousins, David Orr and his Godson, Rusty Olson; mother-in-law, Doris Whithorn of Livingston; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alta and Vern LeDoux of Havre, Diana Whithorn of Livingston and Karen and Robert Angle of Reedpoint.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Hoar, and his father-in-law, Bill Whithorn, and his brothers-in-law, Bruce and Duane Whithorn.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place in Butte.
Memorial services are noon Tuesday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Esther Angel officiating.
