SOUTH HADLEY - Dr. Peter P. Lynch, 72, of Woodbridge, VA, formerly of Wellesley Circle, South Hadley, died at home on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. Born Jan. 21, 1933 in Springfield, he was the son of the late Peter & Julia (Flaherty) Lynch. He was a graduate of the former Technical High School in Springfield, the Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD, and the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore. Dr. Lynch served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX until 1968. He returned to this area in 1968 and worked as an Anaesthesiologist at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for 27 years. He was a member of the Mass. Medical Society, the Hampden District Society, the Mass. Society of Anaesthesiologists, and the American Society of Anaesthesiologists. He was a former member of St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley and currently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Woodbridge, VA. He was a former member of the Holyoke Elks' Lodge #902. Dr. Lynch was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Ball) Lynch who died in 2000. He is survived by a son, Timothy Lynch of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters, Elizabeth Comstock of High Point, TX, Karen Brusie and Kathleen Lynch, both of Woodbridge, VA, and Laura Sharrard of Crestwood, KY; two sisters, Mary Ellen Henderson of South Hadley and Rita May Hoar of St. Augustine, FL. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa's Church at 10 a.m. and burial in St. Rose Cemetery, both in South Hadley. Calling hours will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Cardiovascular Research Institute, 110 Irving St., NW, Suite 4B1, Washington, DC, 20010, or to the National Hemophelia Foundation, 116 W. 32nd St., NY, NY 10001. CHICOPEE- Mary Ellen (Lynch) Henderson passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ellen was born in Springfield on Nov. 20, 1927 a daughter of the Peter P. and Julia (Flaherty) Lynch. Mary Ellen graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Springfield and Our Lady of the Elms College. Mary Ellen was a teacher for twenty-five years for the Springfield Public Schools. She took leave for 17 years to raise her family. She taught at Jefferson Avenue, Indian Orchard, and Margaret C. Ells Elementary Schools retiring in 1990. Mary Ellen was an active member in the Sacred Heart High School Alumni Assoc. and a member of the Our Lady of the Elms College Alumni. Mary Ellen enjoyed dancing, participating in events at the John Boyle O'Reilly Club in Springfield and at the Irish Village on Cape Cod. She enjoyed many summers in Harwichport, Cape Cod, and 18 winters in Cocoa Beach and Vero Beach, FL. Mary Ellen thoroughly enjoyed her trips to Ireland and cruises to the Caribbean. Mary Ellen married James A. Henderson in June 1950 and they had 58 wonderful years together. In addition to her husband, Mary Ellen is survived by six loving children; Maryellen Trenta and her husband Alexander of Sutton, MA; Monica Smith and her husband James of Belgium, WI; Stephen Henderson and his wife Sue of Marlton, NJ; J. Martin Henderson; Julie Cole and her husband Wayne of Wilbraham, MA; and Neil T. Henderson of East Longmeadow, MA. She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren; Patrick, Christopher and Katie Henderson; Kirk and Kellie Henderson; Molly and Cara Cole, and Nikki, Steffi and Samantha Henderson. She is also survived by her sister, Rita M. Hoar of St. Augustine, FL. Mary Ellen was predeceased by two children; Martha in 1954 and Peter B. Henderson in 2002; a daughter in law, Carolene (Rivet) Henderson in 2005, and her brother, Dr. Peter Lynch in 2005. Mary Ellen will be sadly missed by her family, and all those who knew her to be a loyal and caring friend. The Henderson family wishes to thank all the people at Baystate Hospital; Baystate Visiting Nurses and Hospice, and the Murphy-Avis Agency. Visiting hours for Mary Ellen will be on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 from 1-4 PM at Sampson's Funeral Home, 710 Liberty St., Springfield, MA 01104. Friends are invited to join on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01104 for a Liturgy of Christian Burial. The Rite of Committal will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd., Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut St., Spfld, MA 01104 or to Baystate V.N.A. and Hospice, 50 Maple St., PO Box 9058, Spfld., MA 01102.
