Charlotte Horr
Teacher, lecturer, pianist
Charlotte Lucy Horr, 92, of 51 New Rochester Road, died Friday, May 31 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born June 5, 1909 in Berwick, ME, the daughter of Charles and Hattie (Tibbetts) Goodwin. She was a retired teacher form the Dover School System. She also taught in Albany and Kingston. She was Principal of Pierce School for seven years. Mrs. Horr had been a member of the Seacoast Retired Teachers Association and the State and National Associations.
Mrs. Horr was a member of the St. John's Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She served as leader of the Senior High Methodist Youth Fellowship and was active in the Drama Group.
She was a member of the Madbury Grange and later joined the Rochester Grange. She served as lecturer and pianist.
She was also a member of the Eastern NH Pomona Granger serving as secretary for 16 years. She was a charter member of the Agate, a State Grange Past Master's Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Wilson and her husband of Lewiston, ME; a son, Richard VonHor and his wife, Carole of Maumelle, Arkansas; four grandsons; five great granddaughters; three great grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Goodwin and Helen Broughton.
Memorial Services were held at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home with The Reverend Paul Perry, Associate Pastor, Dover Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Portland Street Cemetery, South Berwick, Maine
