      He entered the Air Force in February 1953, retiring in the spring of 1975. He was an auto pilot specialist aboard Air Force I during the Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson administrations. In 1959 he was a member of the advance party when Eisenhower went to the Far East. He served in Germany and in Thailand during the Vietnam War with a search and rescue squadron. At the end of his career, he was a first sergeant at Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Del.

      BERNARD J. HORR RETIRED AS AIR FORCE FIRST SERGEANT
      Maine Sunday Telegram (Portland, ME) - February 12, 1995

      Bernard J. Horr, 60, of Broadway, died Thursday at his home.
      He was born in Portland, a son of James W. and Mary A. Devaney Horr. He attended South Portland schools and entered the Air Force in February 1953, retiring in the spring of 1975.
      He was an auto pilot specialist aboard Air Force I during the Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson administrations. In 1959 he was a member of the advance party when Eisenhower went to the Far East. He served in Germany and in Thailand during the Vietnam War with a search and rescue squadron. At the end of his career, he was a first sergeant at Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Del.
      He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
      Surviving are two sons, Ronald S. of Millcreek, Wash. and John B. of DeBary, Fla.; two daughters, Tracy A. Horr and Kelly E. Horr, both of DeBary, Fla.; four sisters, Kathleen Gardner of Portland, Jane Pooler of South Portland, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Gilman of Westbrook and Mrs. Leo (Linda) White of Windham; a grandson and two granddaughters.
      A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
