Of Newton Highlands, January 13. Beloved husband of the late Mary A. (True). Father of Daniel E. Hoar, Jr. and his wife Angela of Newton Highlands. Brother of Rita Thorne of Newton, Louise Hoover of Newton Lower Falls, the late John W. Hoar, Mary Hoar, and Dorothy Micelatta. Funeral from the Henry J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. (Rte 16), WELLESLEY HILLS, on Thursday at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 1317 Centre St., Newton Centre at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Interment in National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Mr. Hoar served as a Staff Sgt. in The U.S. Army, 101st Infantry Regiment of the 26th Infantry (Yankee) Division. He was wounded Dec. 2, 1944 in Sarre Union, France. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart & the Combat Infantryman Badge. Mr. Hoar was also the Past National Secretary of The Yankee Division Veterans Assoc.
