Deceased Name: Connie Jean ZwahlHubbart
AUGUSTA - Zwahl, Connie Jean (Hubbart), 70, died on March 14th, 2007. She will be cremated, and her memorial service is on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta. Connie, born in Hiawatha KS on December 17, 1936 was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Billie (Hoar) Hubbart, the oldest of 6 children. She spent her childhood in Netawaka KS and graduated from Netawaka High School. She married Floyd Zwahl on June 4, 1955 while he was stationed in Germany, and moved to Augusta in 1960. Initially a homemaker and stay-at-home mother, Connie was actively involved in her children's schools and school activities as well as the PTA. Over her 46 years in Augusta, she actively served the Augusta community in many capacities, including the Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the Augusta Arts Council and the Augusta Planning Commission. Connie started her real estate career with George Snyder. She later became a real-estate broker with Simmons Realty and eventually a co-owner. She later created her own real-estate appraisal company, Zwahl Appraisals, which continues to exist. Connie is survived by husband Floyd Zwahl of Augusta; son Mark Zwahl of Lawrence; daughter Brenda Zwahl and her husband Doug Stowell of Seattle, WA, and her two grandchildren, Riley and Maggie Stowell. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Williams of Augusta; brother Butch and his wife Dorothy Hubbart of Augusta; brother Jerry and his wife Suzanna Hubbart of LaBelle, FL; and brother Linnie and his companion Sue Maness of Iowa Park, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Deanie Dickinson, and son, Todd Zwahl. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
