Charles V. Long Of Ashland Dies In New York City
Charles Victor Long, formerly of Ashland, but since last May a resident of New York City died there on Saturday. Mr. Long, who was employed as a porter at the Methodist Hospital in New York City was found dead in his room in a near-by rooming house on Saturday morning. Death was reported caused by a heart attack.
He was 44 years old and was born in Locust Dale, a son of the late Charles and Millie (Stitzer) Long. He resided practically all his life in this section and was employed for many years as a miner.
To survive are his wife formerly Della Taylor of Ashland and three children, Harold, employed at The News, Charles in the United States Army Medical Corp stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and Grace at home.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Jesse Phillips, Mrs. Richard Shaw, Grant Long, Shamokin; Mrs. Joseph Cress, of Locust Gap; Melvin Long, of Locust Dale; Mrs. Grace Hoar and Harold Long of Ashland.
Funeral arrangements were not completed today.
