      Deceased Name: Katharine Bernadine Ring
      1910 - 2005
      SPRINGFIELD - Katharine Bernadine (Hoar) Ring, 95, passed away Monday December 26, 2005 in a local nursing home. Born in Springfield to the late David J. Hoar and Katharine T. (Hanley) Hoar, she lived here most of her life. She was predeceased in December 1971 by her loving husband of 28 years Charles Whipple Ring, a retired Master Sergeant. Katharine was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms School, and later The Ballard Secretarial School in 1932. She then worked as a secretary in New York City, and later at Westover AFB in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in downtown Springfield and loved to travel and do needlepoint. Katharine is survived by her son-in-law Herbert J. Wheble of Springfield, her two grandsons James R. Wheble and his wife Janet R. of Las Vegas NV and Robert J. Wheble of Wilbraham; her two great-grandsons James R. Wheble and Jeffrey R. Wheble both of Las Vegas, and great-granddaughter Bridget M. Wheble of Wilbraham; and her cousin Elizabeth Hanley of Longmeadow. Besides her husband Charles, she was predeceased by her step-daughter Shirley M. (Ring) Wheble. A calling hour will be Friday 10 a.m. in Byron's Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Katharine Ring's memory may be made to American Lung Assoc. of Western MA, 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105.
